Baker Hotel in Mineral Well, Texas.(photo by anyjazz6)
The hotel was owned by T.B. Baker who already had two other hotels. This hotel use to be the hub of celebrities that would come through the town to visit some nearby hot springs. It opened two weeks after Black Tuesday in 1929. As technology started to evolve medicine, people lost their fascination with these hot springs. The hotel was officially shut down in 1972.

Cheapside, Texas (via flickr)
Located in a remote corner of Gonzalez County, Cheapside is now little more than a ghost town at the end of a pothole-filled rural road. All that remains is the church on the hill, one-room-schoolhouse-cum-community center, a handful of abandoned commercial buildings and a few scattered ranch residences.
